What the FLUM?! The Future Land Use Map Proposal for Cleveland Park:  Understanding What It Could Mean for Our Neighborhood

DC's Office of Planning is proposing changes to the FLUM for DC, including for Cleveland Park, as part of the overall effort to develop the next Comprehensive Plan to guide DC planning for through 2050.  Changes could allow for new zoning for residential density (bigger buildings) and use (number and size of units allowed in a building).

CPCA and the Cleveland Park Historical Society are sponsoring a neighborhood event to help us all understand better how the FLUM and Comp Plan relate to zoning, how zoning relates to Cleveland Park's status as an historic district, and how they all relate to decisions developers make about whether and how to approach launching projects.

Please join us on Wednesday, June 3, at the Cleveland Park Library at 6:30.  We have a deeply knowledgeable panel moderated by CPCA President, Barr Weiner:

  • Mark Hassinger, Founding Partner, Hassinger Real Estate Development Services,  and Adjunct Faculty, Real Estate Development, George Mason University
  • Peter Miles, Architect & Principal at The Drawing Board, Inc., Commissioner ANC 3C,  SMD 05
  • Rick Nash, Past President, Cleveland Park Historical Society, Commissioner ANC 3C,  SMD 08

The panel is well timed as OP will be continuing to work over the summer, is seeking input for those efforts, and will be presenting an updated proposal in the early Fall. Come learn about the issues as we work towards developing CPCA advocacy views for this round and the next with you all.
